The Maine and New Brunswick Potato Producing Region

The traditional potato farming region of Aroostook County, Maine and Northwest New Brunswick (see map) is comprised of several hundred family farms that have made the potato their primary cash crop for generations.  Though divided by an international boundary, the region appears as a continuous stretch of cultivated land, where many Maine and New Brunswick farms are separated by fence posts, tree lines or the St. John River.  Other potato areas are visible in Quebec, Maine, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island.
